Test Track 2.0 debuts at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World began holding previews of the newly-enhanced ride at Epcot this weekend.  The new 2.0 version of the attraction follows the same track as it has since it first opened in 1999 but with an all-new look and soundtrack, focusing on the design elements of creating cars rather than testing them.  The new version of the attraction places passengers inside a “SimCar.”

Guests enter the Chevrolet Design Center, creating their own vehicle designs by modifying attributes including color, length, width, engine type, wheels, body shape, and many more. Ultimately this design is carried onto the ride via RFID-equipped cards.

The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow to set sail Dec. 6 at Walt Disney World

sharing an opening with New Fantasyland and Test Track,  The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will officially open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Dec. 6

Walt Disney Imagineering also shared a first look inside the new walk-through attraction!

Disney Buys Lucasfilm which includes rights to Star Wars and Indiana Jones!

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger announced today The Walt Disney Company is acquiring Lucasfilm, the company founded by George Lucas and home to the mega “Star Wars" franchise!  Included in the $4.05 billion purchase are the rights to its franchises, stories, and businesses including Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound.

 it has also been announced that a seventh “Star Wars” film is in development for release in 2015: STAR WARS: EPISODE 7,  In a conference call, Bob Iger revealed Star Wars Episode 8 and Episode 9 will follow, expecting a new film “every 2-3 years.” Iger also noted Episode 7 is in “early stage development right now.

In addition, Star Wars shows are being developed for TV, with Iger noting the Disney XD would be a good place for them.

How Disney Does Bus Wraps

Ever wonder how Disney gets those designs on their buses?  Disney finds professional  sign makers to create designs for the bus. This technique is called bus wrapping. It has been used back to the early 20th century in order to advertise businesses. Did you know that Disney owns over 260 buses at Disney World? Also, one bus estimates to travel about 52,000 miles a year.
To create a bus wrap you simply just add a special film design over the bus. It only takes a few hours to complete a full bus wrap. The two bus wraps that you see here was created by one of the Signworld owners. Ken Kindt is the founder of this company which he teaches his team on how to create amazing bus wraps like these.

Test Track to reopen December 6 at Epcot

Today Walt Disney World announced the date when the updated version of Test Track will reopen at Epcot.  The new Test Track and New Fantasyland will have the same grand opening on December 6, 2012.


It’s likely Test Track will soft open prior to December 6, but as with most soft openings nothing is guaranteed

Luigi’s Flying Tires permanently loses its beach balls

One of the most unique elements of the most unique Cars Land attraction has been permanently removed. Luigi’s Flying Tires no longer features beach balls bouncing around.

Disneyland spokesperson Erin Glover Said, "We regularly make modifications to attractions to provide guests with the best possible experience."

The Orange County Register also reports the speed of the tires will be increased as Disney removes around 20 pounds of weight from each vehicle!!

Brave Movie Review

I have been anticipating this latest Pixar movie "Brave"for some time. I am always impressed with Pixar and the caliber of their movies.
This is the story of Princess Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) a very strong-willed young lady who is the princess of Scotland. She is very independent and would much rather be a young free soul than be betrothed to a suitor. She loves to spend her free time shooting bows and arrows and climbing steep mountain cliffs and rocks.
When her mother Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson) informs her that she has reached the proper age of finding a suitor, she is very unhappy. She does not want to assume the responsibility of marriage and relationships!
When her father King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) assembles the games to find the perfect match for the young Princess Merida.

The Voices of Liberty Coming to Disneyland!!

After nearly three decades, the talented 8-part a cappella group The Voices of Liberty continues to “wow” guests at Epcot in Walt Disney World Resort with their amazing harmonies on such American classics.

 And now Disneyland park is getting its very own Voices of Liberty, bringing one of the great traditions of Walt Disney World Resort to the Disneyland Resort for the first time.

The new Voices of Liberty will hold court at the Main Street Opera House.
